Congratulations to the Oak Hill Academy Math team for their 1ST PLACE AWARD as the top team at the St. Joseph (Metuchen, NJ) High School Mathematics Competition that was held on Saturday, January 16th!
Mrs. Palamara took a group of thirteen 6th, 7th & 8thgraders up to Metuchen for our maiden voyage up to the Middlesex County High School’s competition since the Prestigious CBA Math Contest is no longer in existence. The team consisted of sixth graders: Aarya Doshi, Justin Weber, Molly Jain and Alex Mitchell; Seventh graders: Kara Pietrowicz, Raymond Shen, Grant D’Orsi, Mason Garber, Nicholas Geissler and Jessica Yatvitskiy; and eighth graders: Jake Fradkin, Thomas Wang and Michael Zhang.
After the dust settled and all of the totals were calculated, Oak Hill Academy rose above the other schools to capture the team title!! Congratulations were also in order on the individual side as Alex Mitchell and Michael Zhang tied for 2nd place, and Thomas Wang earned the 5th place award at the St Joseph Math Contest! This was quite an accomplishment given that over 300 students were in the competition from over 20 schools!
