Letters to Soldiers
Oak Hill Academy continuously appreciates and remembers all of the veterans who have served and who are currently serving our country, but especially during the month of November at our annual Veterans Day Assembly coordinated by Miss Patrice Murray. The assembly commemorates all of the men and women who served and currently serve for our country and allows the students, faculty and staff to also be involved in this very special event. The families of Oak Hill Academy have many veterans in their family trees and we would like to thank those family members for their service! We especially would like to say a special thank you to our Head of School, Mr. Pacelli, for his service to our country. Thank you, Mr. Pacelli, for your service!

Mr. Pacelli was in attendance at this year’s assembly amongst Veterans from all branches of the military in our audience that are family members to our students, faculty and staff. Also in attendance at the Veterans Day assembly was Sergeant Zachary Allsopp who is the fiance to one of our mathematics teachers, Miss. Brittani Schick. Sgt. Allsopp and his battalion were set to deploy in January of 2024 to the Middle East and he was asked to attend the ceremony for a very special reason. Miss. Schick approached Mr. Pacelli and Miss. Murray before the assembly with the idea of having the students of Oak Hill Academy write letters to the soldiers in Sgt. Allsopp’s battalion while they were on their deployment. Both Mr. Pacelli and Miss Murray were extremely supportive of Oak Hill Academy supporting the soldiers overseas, especially since it affects a faculty member directly.
At the Veterans Day assembly, it was announced that the students would have the opportunity to write and send “Dear Soldier” letters to the soldiers overseas. The students were extremely excited for the opportunity to write to someone that they see and call a hero. After the assembly, the students of Oak Hill Academy got to work on their letters. We are pleased to share that over 200 letters were sent overseas to the soldiers. The letters are being sent directly to Sgt. Allsopp and he took on the responsibility to distribute the letters amongst his battalion.
We want to thank all of the students, faculty and staff for their participation in writing and delivering letters to our soldiers overseas. We also want to thank Oak Hill Academy and the community surrounding Oak Hill Academy for their ongoing support. Lastly, we want to thank our military for their bravery, sacrifice, and strength as they serve our country.
