Student Council
Oak Hill Academy Student Council provides a forum for student concerns and a liaison between students and the administration. A president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and project coordinators are elected by the student body from the eighth grade. Grades five through seven have homeroom representatives who work in conjunction with the eighth grade group.
One important duty of the Student Council is to do the daily pledge of allegiance and morning announcements over the school p.a. system.
The Student Council runs many social events for the student body. It plans and hosts three annual dances for the seventh and eighth grade. It also sponsors an event for grades 4-6 which has included a bowling party or movie day.
Student Council takes part in various fund-raising activities in order to provide items for the school. They hold a gift wrap sale in the fall. Each month the Student Council runs Dress-Down-For-A-Dollar Days to provide funds for their organization or selected charities. They also have a school store that supplies official Oak Hill products such as pens, pencils, car magnets, and notepads.
Monies raised help the student body. The Student Council in the past has elected to put their funds toward scholarships, supplies for the greenhouse, refreshments and entertainment at social events, and rides for the Lower School on Littletown Day, to name a few.
Much of the Student Council’s time is spent on various community service activities such as CROP Walk, Monmouth Day Care Center, and Backpack Crew.
