Second Seeded Team of Seventh Graders Michael Gao (Holmdel), Thibaut Fabricant (Red Bank), Anthony Matejicka (Lincroft), Robert Schweikert (Atlantic Highlands), and Audrey Yan (Holmdel) went 2-0 in the Final Four to win the title and give Oak Hill their second straight title to sweep the 2017-2018 Academic Contest Season.  Eighth graders Molly Jain (Red Bank), Aarya Doshi (Hazlet), Alex Mitchell (Red Bank), Ansh Kulkarni (Howell) and Cakie Dym (Rumson) finished third!  Oak Hill Academy boasted FIVE out of the Top 10 teams as well with 4th, 7th & 10th! Five schools participated: Neptune City, Forrestdale, Eisenhower, Brielle and OHA.

Played very much like Jeopardy, some of the categories ranged from “Ancient Civilizations” to “Painting & Painters” to “Natural Disasters” to “Real Life Math” to “Book to Film” to “Music Theory.” The categories and questions were difficult and thought provoking!

Initially, there are three rounds with each round having thirty questions. After these rounds, the scores are tabulated and the top four teams compete in the trophy round. Oak Hill Academy’s top teams had the highest number of points and were seeded first, second and third. Oak Hill defeated fellow Oak Hill team in the semifinals and then beat Forrestdale in the finals to capture first place!

Congratulations to all of Oak Hill’s seventh and eighth graders who participated in this contest. The hard work of the students along with the enriching curriculum provided by the Oak Hill teachers should be attributed to the continued success of OHA in these types of competition.
