Summer Reading in the Harkness Room
Mrs. Tirella’s seventh grade Literature classes visited the Harkness Room. An ideal place for an interactive discussion of their Summer Reading books, the class prepared for their assessments of the novels. Initially they reviewed the guidelines of using the Harkness Table. The Harkness method initiates discussion-based learning style that offers the opportunity for all students to participate and contribute their ideas. By utilizing their Story Maps and notes as a starting point for their discussions, they were able to create some very informative and insightful conversations. The experience was a very enriching and engaging way to begin the year.
