OHA 8th graders win Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Contest

Oak Hill Academy is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of our eighth-grade students who recently won an essay contest sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The topic for the essay contest was: Lunch with a signer. America will celebrate her 250th birthday on July 4, 2026. If you could go back in time and meet one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence for lunch, who would you choose? How did their actions and service contribute to our Country being independent?

Our student’s thoughtful writing, strong research, and clear expression of ideas impressed judges and reflected both their dedication and academic excellence. This accomplishment highlights not only their individual talents but also the hard work of their teachers and the supportive learning community that helped them succeed.

Caitlyn Ho received First Place in Monmouth County.  Her essay will now be sent to the state level.  The following students earned Second Place Awards: Juliet Hartigan, Thalie Summer, Anika Jain, Hugo Crawford-Philips, Karina Patel, and Noa Wellner.  Filip Baszak and Maura Gilson received Third Place Awards for their essays.
