America250: Patrice Murray
As part of America’s Semi quincentennial Celebrations, Oak Hill Academy and Patrice Murray, Director of Personnel and Administration, have been nominated, interviewed and recorded as part of the America250: Our American Story program, which recognizes our country’s 250th anniversary.
As a direct result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Miss Murray created a Veterans Day program to bring the school community together. Monmouth County had lost many people that day. Some were parents of OHA students. To help bring unity back, the Veterans Day assemblies instructed the students how very special it is to live in the United States.

Over the years, OHA’s Veterans Day programs have grown and changed in many wonderful ways. Speakers have included military combat soldiers, Blue Ribbon families, military service animals, and Wreaths Across America. Themes have always showcased moments in history. The end results are always spectacular. Students become better patriots and have an awareness of America’s history that is supported in the classrooms, as well.
Due to Patrice Murray’s influence and dedication to Veterans Day, America@250 recorded her story. This video will be in the Library of Congress American Story Program. This national collection honors storytellers who have helped America reach its 250th birthday.
Oak Hill Academy believes that schools need to acknowledge their important role in students’ lives. To this end, we must strive to teach the whole person as framed in our contemporary society – a society that balances issues of how the absorption of intellectual pursuits supports the wellness, stimulation, and growth of all persons in a democracy. We strive to foster in each student a passion for life-long learning. We seek excellence, respect for the individual, responsibility, and integrity. We are dedicated to creating an academically rigorous curriculum which is supported by a diverse and nurturing environment where students can flourish. https://oakhillacademy.com/about/oha-an-excellent-choice/
