2019-2020 Reflections Staff

The American Scholastic Press has selected Oak Hill Academy’s Reflections Literary Magazine as the recipient of two very prestigious awards:

First Place with Special Merit and Most Outstanding PREK-8 Literary Magazine for 2019!

Monmouth County Private School Literary Magazine
First Place with Special Merit

The contest is judged through a variety of criteria; design, content, theme and editing.  OHA competes with schools all over the country.  Our Upper School students submit poetry and short stories as the school year progresses. Our Monmouth county private school’s literary magazine, Reflections, staff and moderators work diligently on selecting the works to include each year.  Our literary staff’s dedication to excellence is reflected with this recognition.

Congratulations to OHA’s advisers, Mrs. Maureen Daly and Miss Courtney Lee.  Congratulations to the Upper School Staff and students for a job well done!  This is the 23rd win for Oak Hill Academy, and the third year in a row that Reflections has been recognized nationally!

Reflections Outstanding PreK-8
Most Outstanding PREK-8 Literary Magazine

Oak Hill Academy’s commitment to excellence is evident in all academic disciplines.  The Upper School’s English Department concentrates on all aspects of writing as students move through grades 5-8.  The writing process involves poetry, prose, journaling, essay development, and creative narratives. The culminating writing project is the research paper, which teaches the students all phases of the formal writing process.  Students are well-prepared for high school and beyond at OHA.
