Headmaster, Joseph Pacelli, of Oak Hill Academy in Lincroft, New Jersey, has announced that Dr. Joseph Lipp will lead their new high school (The Socrates School), which is scheduled to open in September 2020.
“As our plans continue to unfold, it is exciting to have an educator of Dr. Lipp’s experience and enthusiasm to be the lead facilitator in our new school,” states Pacelli.
Dr. Joseph Lipp
Dr. Lipp’s background includes instructing at The Ohio State University and three years as a teacher at the Columbus School for Girls in Columbus, Ohio. CSG is noted as being one of the most prestigious independent schools for girls in Ohio. At CSG he was appointed to co-lead a faculty team to design a system to establish guidelines for academic excellence. His teaching included courses in Latin, Critical Reading, and the Humanities.
Dr. Lipp is currently an Adjunct Professor at Monmouth University lecturing in the department of History and Anthropology where he has attained the reputation of being a compelling instructor who is able to engage and nurture students of all ages.
Mr. Pacelli continues by indicating that the Socrates School could not have found a better educator to lead the school in its inaugural year. “Dr. Lipp is a highly motivated, genuine person who will inspire his students to achieve to their fullest. He is a gifted teacher and scholar who generates true excitement for learning in his classroom. During his high school years, Dr. Lipp attended the Mosaic School in Ohio which has a similar philosophy as the Socrates School which challenges students to become analytic thinkers and effective communicators.”
“Dream come true”
When asked to comment, Dr. Lipp responded “ This opportunity is a dream come true – to give modern high school students a vigorous place to raise the big questions, to pursue their passions, and to collaborate with community leaders, entrepreneurs, and experts in preparing for what’s next. I believe in a personalized, rigorous, project-based learning community because I myself attended such a high school, and to this day it is what has empowered me to achieve such varied goals as earning a Ph.D. in the humanities and starting a successful business from scratch. Regardless of their specific personal goals, this self-confidence is one of the most precious gifts I look forward to giving my students at The Socrates School.”
