Week 1 – June 17-21, 2019

Summer Painting Camp 1 - This camp will teach acrylic painting techniques that focus on texture, movement, composition and color theory.  Students will learn to mix their own colors, set up and clean up their painting supplies and paint on canvas.

  • open to students entering 1st grade – 8th grade in the Art Room

International Chefs & Bakers - Take a trip around the world with Mrs. Savarese. Students will discover the world through reading, cooking, and hands on activities. Each day students will learn about a different country around the world. Students will hear stories from this country, learn about its culture, and create a meal from that part of the world as well as make a special craft each day. At the end of the week, students will leave with their very own cookbook highlighting the recipes created over the week.

  • Open to students entering 2nd through – 5th grades

Open Arts Studio- Feeling creative?   Do you want to make jewelry, or paint, or build with clay, or maybe draw… how about watercolor, metal stamping, macramé, linoleum block printing, weaving, paper embossing or paper quilling.   Join Miss DiMaggio in the Art Room during Open Art Studio and let your creativity run wild.  Each day you can choose where your creativity will take you.

 Lights Up: Putting on a Play: Under the direction of Mrs. DeVivo, budding actors will perfect their performance skills by participating in a variety of Drama games and exercises that will improve their stage presence, diction, projection, and movement. A large part of the day will be spent working together devising an original play that will be performed in the Student Activities Center for family and friends on the last day of class.  Working on scenery as well as gathering props and costumes for the performance will be included, too!  The final performance will be held in the SAC on Friday, June 21 at 10:30.

  • open to students entering grades 3rd - 9th.
  • 8:30am – 11:00am (Performance June 21 @ 10:30am in SAC)

Puppetry Camp –Get creative with Mrs. DeVivo and learn all about puppetry!  Students will have an opportunity to learn about and construct a variety of hand puppets including paper bag, tube, finger, sock and stick puppets as well as marionettes and shadow puppets.  The students will create puppets based on popular folk and fairy tales that we will read.  They will also use their imaginations to make their own creations. The students will bring their puppets to life by learning how to write puppet scripts and putting on a puppet shows!

Lego Camp Colorful and easy to use, Lego bricks have withstood the test of time because of their unlimited open-ended possibilities. There is not just one way to play with a set of Legos.  Join us this summer for a few days of Lego fun.

Lip Sync Battle! – Get ready to strut your stuff on stage in a week long epic lip sync battle!!!  Under the guidance of Mix Master DJ DeVivo, performers will work together in small groups to choose a song, block their staging and create original choreography. Students will gain confidence by performing on stage, build collaboration skills, and express their individuality and creativity, all while having fun!  At the end of each camp day, the teams will face off and perform their routines. The performances will be recorded and shared via email with the families so that they can see their lip sync super stars’ routines.  Different lip sync genres will be introduced each day such as Epic 80’s, Broadway Bound, Big Screen Songs, Pop & Disney just to name a few.

Week 2 – June 24-28, 2019

Broadway Musical Review Workshop  - Perfect your triple threat skills under the direction of Mrs. DeVivo.  Students will rehearse scene, song and dance excerpts from some of Broadway’s most popular shows like Annie, The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and The Little Mermaid just to name a few.  On the last day of camp, there will be a performance held in the Scire Student Activity Center for family and friends.  The performance will be at 10:30 am on June 28th in the Scire Student Activity Center.   

  • open to students entering grades 3rd - 9th.
  • 8:00am – 11:00am (Performance June 28 @ 10:30am in SAC)
