China has over 5000 years continuous history and culture. There are more than 1 billion people speaks Chinese, which makes it the most widely spoken first language in the world. The study of the Chinese language opens the way to different important fields such as understanding Chinese politics, business and culture.
Oak Hill Academy offers an age-appropriate Chinese language program from the 1
st
grade through to the 8
th
grade. Students will be introducing to Mandarin Chinese, the official language for China and many Chinese communities all over the world. They will also learn Hanyu Pinyin, a system of Romanization (phonemic notation and transcription to Roman script) for standard Mandarin.

grade students will be studying single characters, basic vocabularies and short sentences through various fun and interesting activities. 4
th
– 8
th
grade students will be formally studying Hanyu Pinyin to promote their pronunciation and basic conversation skills on a various topics which can be used in daily life situations for written/spoken Chinese.
In addition, all students will have a chance to participate in many hands-on activities to explore the rich culture and traditions of China, such as cooking Chinese food, making Chinese Zodiacs calendars and drawing traditional Chinese paintings and learning calligraphy.
